The MIE Racing Althea Honda team has today completed a final two-day test session prior to the inaugural round of the Superbike World Championship taking place this coming weekend at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit in Australia.

Completing 21 laps in today’s second session, which served as something of a shakedown ahead of the upcoming race weekend, Takumi Takahashi set a fastest time of 1’36.314, working to improve his overall feeling with the CBR1000RR-R and the tricky Australian track, one he had not seen until yesterday.

The MIE Racing Althea Honda team will return to the same Phillip Island track on Friday for the first practice sessions making up the opening round of the 2020 Superbike World Championship.

“I’m glad I was able to get back out for some additional track time this afternoon and that the weather conditions allowed us to work without interruption. It was a bit windy but that was not a problem for me. I must say thanks to my technicians who all worked very hard yesterday and this morning to get me back out on track, as it was important to try and complete as many laps as possible. We still have a lot to do, in terms of both bike set-up and me learning the track, but I’m looking forward to Friday when my first WorldSBK race weekend will begin.”
