Mandalika (Indonesia)

A month after the penultimate Superbike World Championship round in Argentina, it’s finally time for the season finale, set to play out this weekend at the brand-new Mandalika International Street Circuit on Lombok, in Indonesia.

The MIE Racing Honda team and rider Leandro ‘Tati’ Mercado have already arrived and are excited to get to work at what is of course a new track for everyone. This WorldSBK round will be the structure’s inaugural international event. The facility is located in the Mandalika area of the West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. The track measures 4.3 km in length and incorporates seventeen turns, six of which are left-handers and eleven right-handers.

The Superbike teams and riders are unsurprisingly very interested to see what kind of track awaits them, while the MIE Racing Honda Team squad is also keen to round out the 2021 season in a positive fashion.

“It's already the last race of the year unfortunately! Anyway, I am very happy to visit a new circuit and think it will be very interesting. I've seen a lot of pictures and videos of it and I'm very curious. I can't wait to get out on track and give it my all with my Honda. Adapting quickly to the track will be important because nobody has any data or references. So the focus will be on the practice sessions, so as to best prepare for Saturday and Sunday. My aim is to complete three good races, especially compared to what we saw in Argentina, and round out the championship in the best possible way.”
