The MIE Racing Honda team and rider Takumi Takahashi return to Spain for round six of the Superbike World Championship round, set to run at the Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya in Montmeló, Spain this coming weekend.

Featuring on the WorldSBK calendar for the very first time this year, the Barcelona facility will be particularly challenging for teams that have limited track data to work with. The MIE Racing Honda team and Japanese rider Takumi Takahashi have no previous track knowledge, so the squad will essentially start with a blank page come Friday’s first practice session.

The track is 4.627 km in length and features long straights and fourteen corners, six of which are left-handers, eight right-handers. The fast and flowing track is a permanent fixture on the MotoGP and F1 calendars and was inaugurated in 1991.

The MIE Racing Honda team will be out on track at 10.30 a.m. on Friday, ready for the weekend’s first free practice session.

“Catalunya is a completely new track for me, I have only seen it in some videos so I honestly don’t know what to expect in terms of the circuit itself or how I will like it. I head there with an open mind though and am aware that Aragón allowed me to better understand my bike and how best to manage the tyres. I’m really looking forward to picking up at Barcelona where we left off at Aragón.”
