The MIE Racing Honda team and rider Takumi Takahashi were back at the Motorland Aragón circuit today for round 5 of the 2020 Superbike World Championship.

During the opening free practice, the Japanese rider completed nineteen laps in all, working hard with his technicians to improve his riding around the Andalusian track. His fastest time of the session was a 1’53.230 with which he positioned twentieth.

Despite the hotter conditions, Takahashi was able to improve on his earlier time in the initial stages of free practice 2, setting a 1’53.072. Continuing to work hard to fine-tune the bike set-up used last weekend, the Japanese rider rounded out day one in twentieth position, having made some progress throughout the sessions.

“This morning we were able to improve compared to last week and I felt better on the bike, especially with the rear, something that allowed me to better manage the bike, the turning and my riding in general. We changed the set-up for the afternoon and were actually slightly faster despite the hotter conditions, but the feeling was not as good as we expected so tomorrow we'll try to find a compromise between the two.”
